Happy 222nd Birthday

According to Feedburner, this blog now has 222 unique RSS subscribers.

Seems like a good time to take a look at some stats.

First, thanks for reading and subscribing. I take care to write interesting things on this blog and I’m glad you like it. I think of my readers as teammates, not subscribers.

It took 2 months and 46 articles to get to 222 subscribers. I’m happy with that.

My Daily Links feed has 62 subscribers. That number is surprisingly low given that this blog has 222 subscribers. I reckon that if you like my articles, you should like the articles I link to. In fact, I think the articles I link to are far better than the things I write. Should I start folding my Daily Links into this blog’s feed?

The VC Channel grew very quickly to 124 subscribers in 10 days. There was obviously some unmet demand for a single feed that aggregates all the VC blogs.

My most popular article was Greasemonkey will blow up business models, with over 20,000 downloads and 296 del.icio.us bookmarks. I believe this article was popular because a few high-profile bloggers linked to it — I don’t think the article is any better than half a dozen other articles on this blog.

None of these numbers can measure the value I have derived from writing a blog. It is one of the best things I have ever done for my intellectual development and career.

I recommend you start one immediately.
