For all you new-ish readers who haven’t been with us since the very beginning, here’s a recap of what we’ve covered so far:
Internet
I invented the automatic generation of podcasts with speech synthesis and coined the term Hawkcasting to describe it.
I posited that taggers are building a meta-web, a tagweb, on top of the world wide web we already know and love.
I hoped that computers will soon be making automagic associations and suggestions between files on the desktop and internet based on semantic analysis.
I hypothesized that greasemonkey is going to blow up business models and Mike Siverd completed the Axis of Alteration with his thoughts on Aardvark and Platypus
I noted that thumbnail tabs rock and so do recent items.
And I sdflkjd-ulated that video phones are niche product.
Business
I maintained that the media industry has to realize that its customers have a new covenant that governs what they want, how they want it, and what they will pay.
I speculated that Mark Cuban is releasing films simultaneously in theatres, DVD, and TV because the real money is in DVDs and TV.
And I argued that taste and passion are critical to building remarkable products.
Venture Capital
I noted that it is more important to identify good markets in venture capital than it is to identify good teams.
Todd Rose and I interviewed Charley Polachi, a recruiter of venture capital’s General Partners.
I launched The VC Channel, a single RSS feed for all the VC blogs.
And I build a little Jotspot application to track my dealflow.
Sundry
I collected a stack of trenchant quotes.
I recommended the best investing book of all time and a little-known book about the development of the Segway.
And I have collected a whole bucketload of interesting links that you should be reading.
